A 3D rig using 2 X Sony SR1Es, and an old ‘glidecam’ base and mount. Thinking about using a thick rubber band to sync the focus rings, allowing me to get a bit of DOF blur for closeups. 3D Lessons Learned:
Wider stereo base (distance between lenses) gives a greater sense of depth
wider stereo base makes things look smaller in scale
wider stereo base makes the position of the camera look lower (the first 2 make sense, but dont really get this one)
optimal stereo base changes depending on the distance between objects in the field of view: if there is a lot of separation between foreground and background, a smaller stereo base is better, but a wider stereo base will give more detailed 3D
