This match has taken a day and a half, but despite the obviously incorrect focal length, I’m very pleased with it. I had a lot of problems with the camera turn and automatic tracking. In the end I manually tracked the shot (about 80 points in total) before performing the solve. In compositing, I has to slightly fake the perspective to compensate for the focal length: although in real life the wall curves gently toward the camera (i.e. is concave), the wall in compositing slopes away and down in order to achieve proper 3D perspective when viewed in stereo. I can’t see this causing any problems, as I now have a 2.5D mesh that sticks to the footage well, despite its irregular shape in AE.
These videos are viewable using the standard red/cyan anaglyph glasses. I have got so used to wearing them that my eyes feel strange when I take them off. I wonder if 3D compositors have 3D monitors?
